Un board foot è un volume di legno pari a 144 pollici cubi. Puoi anche considerarlo come 1 ft² di superficie con 1 pollice di spessore, oppure 1/12 di piede cubo.
Poiché il legname è spesso venduto in misure “1×, 2×” nominali ma piallato a dimensioni reali leggermente inferiori, molti calcoli usano spessore e larghezza reali.
Un 2×4 nominale misura in realtà circa 1.5 in × 3.5 in dopo essiccazione e piallatura. Per stimare i BF, usare le misure reali dà totali più realistici. I preset di questo strumento inseriscono misure piallate tipiche.

BF = (T × W × L) ÷ 12
T = Thickness in inches
W = Width in inches
L = Length in feet
BF = Board Feet
One board foot equals 144 cubic inches (12″ × 12″ × 1″). When we multiply thickness (inches) × width (inches) × length (feet), we get a result in "inch²-feet". Dividing by 12 converts this to board feet, the standard unit for lumber volume.

Actual: 1.5″ thick × 3.5″ wide × 8′ long
Multiply dimensions
1.5 × 3.5 × 8 = 42
Divide by 12
